Biography

Professor Dilan Gunawardane presently working as a Professor in Sociology at the Department of Social Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. He has completed his First Degree, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology in 2002 with First Class at the University of Kelaniya. After that, he worked as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, University of Kelaniya from 2003 to 2007. During this period, he completed his Master of Social Sciences Degree (MSSc) in Sociology. In 2007, Dr. Dilan joined as a Research Officer in the Sarvodaya Head office in Moratuwa. While he was working at the Sarvodaya Institute, Dr. Dilan assumed duties as a permanent lecturer in Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences, RUSL in 2008. In 2012, he obtained World Bank scholarship continue for his Doctoral Studies, and 2017, he completed his Ph.D. in the University of Kelaniya. After completing the Ph.D., Dr. Dilan worked as a Sociologist, Gender Specialist, and Resettlement Specialist in the several consultancy project conducted by World Bank, UNDP, Ministry of Mega Polis Development, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Irrigation. During his academic career, he has published three books and he has participated several international conferences in Canada, Thailand, Malaysia, and India and he published number of research papers and research abstracts.
