Internship

04 of the Graduates who obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Sociology from the Department of Social Sciences got the opportunity for taking part in 06 months paid internship in Sri Lanka Parliament under National Democratic Institute (NDI) and took part in the orientation programme on the 1st of March – 3rd of March 2023 at Sri Lanka Parliament, Waters Edge, Avana and Anantara Resort.

The internship program was started on the 07th of March and during the internship programme (and depending on where the interns are assigned), they may also have an opportunity to get an overview of:
● General parliamentary administration
● The Standing Orders of parliament
● Work of parliamentary committees
● Parliamentary procedure and the legislative process
● The Hansard Department and a general tour of parliament
● Reference, research and analysis services provided to parliamentarians by the Library and Parliament Research Unit
● Public education and public outreach services conducted by the media and communications department of the parliament
● Interaction with parliament
● The digital space in relation to parliament
