Scholarships to India – 2023
Nishani Darshika who is a 3rd year student of the department of Labguages, and learning Hindi has been selected to participate in the International Students Visitors Program of ICCR in Delhi, representing Sri Lanka, from 20th June 30th of June. This was a remarkable achievement for her and a proud moment for our department, faculty, and university.
During her visit, she had the privilege to explore various places and attend
academic programs at different universities. Notably, she visited a
world-renowned school and participate in a special program held there.
Additionally, she was scheduled to visit esteemed higher education institutions
such as Delhi University and Gandhi University, National School of Drama,
where she will actively engage in academic conferences.
The Indian government had allocated a budget of approximately 13 lakhs for this
scholarship, which demonstrates their commitment to supporting and fostering
academic exchanges. Out of all the universities in Sri Lanka offering Hindi as
a degree course, our student was chosen based on her exceptional Hindi language
skills. It is worth mentioning that only three students have been selected for
this prestigious opportunity, and Nishani Darshika from Rajarata University,
along with three students from Kelani and Sabaragamu University, will be
representing Sri Lanka.
This opportunity marks a significant milestone in the student’s academic journey. It not only enriches her linguistic and cultural understanding but also enhances the reputation of our department, faculty, and university as a whole.
