The Third Environmental Management Undergraduate Research Symposium (EMURS-RUSL) -2023

Introduction

The Third Environmental Management Undergraduate Research Symposium organized by the Department of Environmental Management with collaborations with Sarasavi Nature Club, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. This is a golden opportunity for undergraduate researchers to share their knowledge, experiences, and outcomes of researches and contribute to dissemination valuable, innovative findings to a well-read audience.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium consists of verbal presentation sessions by students from all universities across the Sri Lanka.

All submitted abstract will be reviewed by the panel of experts.

Aim

Aim is to enhance research culture among undergraduate in meeting the challenges of environmental sustainability.

Guidelines for Students

  • The candidates should be a present student in the  Sri  Lankan University
  • Each student can submit only one abstract
  • All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and accepted or rejected by the editorial board under the recommendation of the review’s comments
  • The principal author is expected to present the paper at the research symposium

Oral Presentations Guidelines

All the authors should present their research using PowerPoint (MS Office) format. Details of the presentations are as follows:

  • Duration of the presentation: 10 minutes
  • Question time: 03 to 05 minutes

Abstract Templates and Guidelines

Authors are required to submit abstract prepared according to the guidelines given in the following.

The abstract must be written in one paragraph. The abstract must summarize the key points of the manuscript in 200 to 350 words. Abstract title should be limited for 20 words in UPPER CASE, Times New Roman, 12Pt, Bold. Abstract should clearly reflect the Objective, Methodology, Results and Discussion and Conclusions of the study. Abstract must be written in clear English/Sinhala using accurate grammar and Times New Roman font/FM Abaya, 12Pt.  

Font

  • English – Times New Roman
  • Sinhala – FMAbhaya

For the title, font size should be 12 and bold. Font size should be 12Pt for the body of the text. Maximum of 5 references only one table or figure can be included if necessary. 

Publication

Selected abstract will be will be published in symposium proceedings.

  • Notification of acceptance: 06/08/2023

The abstract must report original research and be limited to 250-300 words to convey the study’s content. It should specifically contain the background and importance of the study, objectives, methodology, results, conclusions, and recommendations. Authors should include five keywords after the abstract. All submissions should be typed on A4 size pages with 0.5 inches in the right and 1-inch margins other three sides and line space 1.15. The draft can be submitted in English
